Messages Analytics
Messages Analytics is a local-first Mac app for understanding patterns in your
Messages history.
The app asks you to choose the Messages folder on your Mac, reads chat.db in
read-only mode, and builds local aggregate summaries for chats, people, and
groups. Messages Analytics is designed for private review of your own conversation
patterns without sending your Messages database to a developer server.
What It Shows
- aggregate message counts for chats, people, and groups;
- activity over time;
- shared item totals;
- conversation patterns;
- local analysis views for message length, response time, emoji, and reactions;
- troubleshooting support information and safe analytics-cache reset controls.
Privacy First
- Your Messages source stays on your Mac.
- The source database is opened read-only.
- Raw message text is not persisted by Messages Analytics.
- Contacts access is optional.
- With explicit consent, private-iCloud sync can store rule names and participant identifiers, such as phone numbers or email addresses, only so hidden-contact and merge choices work across your Macs.
- The Contacts address book, contact photos, local Contacts cache, Messages data, and analytics cache are not included in iCloud sync.
- Exports and detailed support information are user-initiated.
